Our Services

Estate and Parkland Fencing

We can supply and erect a wide variety of metal fence and gate styles for gardens, estates and parklands. Our work utilises flexible construction and design to suit all manner of estate grounds, whether agricultural land, deer parks, garden areas, uneven or level terrains. Our team will be happy to advise on the most suitable style for your particular situation.

Deer Fencing

Generally required as exclosures in woodlands and for new plantations, deer fencing can also be essential to enclose deer in parkland situations. Our standard deer fence is 1.8m high, sufficient to prevent access by Muntjac, Roe and Fallow deer using high tensile mesh fencing with design and installation tailored to site requirements. We also design and install suitable wooden or metal gates for vehicle and pedestrian access.

With little alteration, our deer fencing can be adapted for perimeter fencing of solar farms and the protection of orchards and large gardens.

Forestry and Woodland Fences

Forestry and woodland management is at the heart of our business and can pose particular challenges for fence installations in rough and steep terrain. Our team will help you select the correct fencing specification for your situation, with installation supported by our capable tracked post driver.

Tree Guards

Anyone who has been around trees long enough has probably seen the damage caused by browsing and the risks this causes to valuable trees. Large tree guards are often required in parkland and woodland locations to protect against deer, horse and cattle and we can advise and install the most appropriate style for the situation.

Horse/Equestrian Fencing

Our horse fences are specifically made for equestrian use: constructed of high quality materials with safety, strength and low maintenance as a priority. We offer a range of heights, for horses of all sizes and ages. Our team can help you choose the most appropriate design for your needs. Creosote treatment is often the choice of wood preservative for horse fencing as this helps to deter gnawing of the timber. Nicholsons also design and construct basic horse jumps set into fences for clients.

Stock/ Sheep and Cattle Fencing

Fencing for cattle enclosures needs to be particularly strong and durable, as cattle have a tendency to rub against fencing. We offer a range of high quality, strong, low maintenance fences specifically designed for keeping cattle enclosed.

Rabbit Fencing

Rabbits can be a persistent problem to gardeners and landowners in many areas. We offer a range of rabbit fence styles to help secure your property and can advise and construct to meet your requirements. Often this needs to be incorporated with other fencing types such as Stock or Deer  – or even retrofitted to existing fencelines. For added protection we advise digging in the rabbit net and can provide this service.

Domestic Fencing

Traditional post-and-rail fencing

Our attractive post and rail fencing can be specified as square sawn, half round peeled / machine rounded posts and or rails.

Cleft hardwood fencing

For the more traditional look we supply and install Cleft Chestnut or Oak fencing which can be made even more stock proof with the addition of netting and or rabbit wire.

Close-board / Panel fencing / Chain Link

More fitting in the urban environment our team are very experienced in designing and installing Close-board, Panel or Chain link fencing. And can offer a range of styles, heights, Gates, finish and materials to suit scope and budget.

Fencing for Pets

Frequently we are asked to make a garden “escape” proof for family pets and dogs in particular. We can tailor your fence to suit all types of requirements in settings to suit rural and urban.

Gates

“We hired Nicholsons to undertake a fencing and planting job and were extremely satisfied with the work they undertook. Their level of communication was excellent, especially Dai and Katie. In terms of tree planting they have exceed my expectations, were very competitive on price and provided good value for money. I will definitely be a returning customer and would happily recommend them to others.”

Billy Bounds

“As I rapidly increase the number of woodland and forestry capabilities on farm, I continue to place my full trust in Nicholsons to deliver the highest quality service, both in field and regarding advice, licensing and documentation support. I would recommend them any day of the week to any one.”

“Firstly let me acknowledge what Nicholson’s have achieved in bring us all together and then delivering on their part of the agreement so professionally and efficiently despite the various issues that have been overcome without any due fuss or detriment to the objective.

Your team of Sam, Simon, Clara, Claudia and George were exemplar and I would ask that you please pass on the thanks and appreciation from all of us at Morgan Sindall for being true ambassadors for the project as well as your business. I would be remiss if I did not save special recognition for Liz and her boundless efforts to facilitate the project, Charlotte for her attention to detail and yourself for delivering with passion and commitment, for myself playing a small part alongside you has been a real bonus for me and an honour.

I do look forward to us all remaining committed to the woodlands being a success and perhaps pioneering other projects where we can work side by side and create not only legacies but places for fun and the betterment for all.”
