GARDEN DESIGN CASE STUDY

A GARDEN TO ENJOY

Josie and Charlie Irons are fashion and lifestyle bloggers who moved into their beautiful country house in the Cotswolds in the Spring of 2020, just before Covid hit.

A border with naturalistic-style planting extends the width of the house. This bed is filled with plants including Salvias, Asters, Sedums, and grasses

The garden consisted of open lawns and little screening. Designed by Liz Nicholson, the garden was developed into garden rooms giving places to go and hide!

It took the team of Nicholsons softworks landscapers a couple of months to bring the somewhat neglected garden alive with colourful, decorative borders.

The planting of new trees and hedges has been used where privacy is required but also to define boundaries and create spaces for an orchard and a kitchen garden. Several dead or poor specimen trees, overgrown shrubs and some failing evergreens had to be removed and other existing trees were improved through tree surgery.

The deep, herbaceous borders, crab apple arches and yew hedging now divide the back and side garden injecting year-round colour and adding texture and structure.

A gravel garden was created for The Coach House where Josie’s mother lives.

“Please pass our thanks on to all of your colleagues who oversaw and implemented Jon’s excellent vision with such great care and attention; every single person we’ve met wearing the ‘Nicholsons Polo’ has been unbelievably polite, professional and generous.

The business you’ve built is truly impressive in every way, it really should be used as an example of excellence for MBA graduates to study.”
