Located east of Kettering in Northamptonshire, Hanwood Park, designed for Hanwood LLP, creates a striking sense of arrival inspired by the town’s edge and the historic estate landscapes of the surrounding countryside. Tree-lined avenues echo Boughton Estate’s heritage, while an arboretum adds seasonal interest and links to Wicksteed Park. Central spaces encourage play, relaxation and community cohesion, complemented by a traditional Ha-Ha wall along the main path. The naturalistic design introduces diverse habitats, including woodland, parkland, wildflower meadows and native hedgerows, enriching both ecology and visitor experience.

The Hanwood Park entrance design successfully blends heritage and modern landscape principles to create a welcoming gateway east of Kettering. By drawing inspiration from historic estate features and integrating naturalistic planting, the scheme delivers a multifunctional space that fosters community, enhances biodiversity, and reflects the character of Northamptonshire’s countryside. This project demonstrates how thoughtful design can connect people, place and ecology in a cohesive and enduring way.
