Hanwood Park
High quality entrance gateway and multi-functional public park
The sense of arrival at Hanwood Park has been designed to draw influence from both the existing edge of the town and the historic estate landscape of the wider countryside. Tree-lined avenues draw people into the site, reflecting the historic avenues of Boughton Estate, whilst an arboretum provides seasonal variation and a connection with the amenity landscape of Wicksteed Park to the west. Centrally designed spaces offer opportunities for play and relaxation, as well as community cohesion, connected with a traditional estate Ha-Ha feature running along a central path. The naturalistic scheme offers a range of new habitats for wildlife, including woodland and parkland areas, traditional wildflower meadows and native hedgerows.
