Nicholsons supported Mountpark Developments Ltd in transforming 21 hectares of arable land in south Derbyshire into a diverse, species-rich landscape while enhancing carbon sequestration. Bringing together expertise from our soils, forestry and ecology teams, Nicholsons carried out detailed field surveys and laboratory analysis to establish baseline soil organic carbon stocks. This data informed land-use change planning, biodiversity enhancement measures and species selection across woodland, grassland and wetland habitats. Despite challenging weather conditions, the project delivered robust carbon data and contributed to measurable biodiversity gains across the site.
