Bidding Farewell to Jean
Last week, we sadly said farewell to one of our longest-serving members of staff. Jean Graham, who has worked at Nicholsons for over 20 years, is leaving to enjoy her well-deserved retirement. Jean has always been a big part of the family here at Nicholsons, not only working across various departments, but also providing somewhere to stay for members of staff when they needed accommodation. She also introduced one of her sons, Ronnie, who then came to help set up and work in the Landscape dept, as well as her husband, Bill, who is seen around mowing and attending to other vital jobs. Jean also used to bless the teams with her fantastic baking, so it goes without saying that Jean will be dearly missed by everyone. We wish Jean the very best in her retirement.
A word from Tim Shardlow (Director of Forestry)
“It has been a pleasure to work with Jean for all these years and the forestry team would like to thank her for all the lovely baking and for keeping our office so tidy! We all wish her a very happy retirement”
A word from Liz Nicholson (Managing Director)
“Who else could prune 30 espalier fruit trees before breakfast, and have baked 120 cakes for the Royal Forestry Society by late afternoon – Jean is a legend. With the arrival of lockdown, we asked Jean to protect herself and stay at home and only when she had time to stop did she realise that she had overshot retirement by many many years! Niel and I are indebted to the team that has helped us build Nicholsons and Jean is one of the foundations!”
