Our Tree Surgery Service

Tree felling and tree surgery should always be carried out by qualified tree surgeons. Nicholsons is an Arboricultural Association Approved Contractor and employ a specialist tree surgery team all of whom are qualified in tree surgery techniques to NPTC certificated levels. We are able to offer a flexible tree care service tailored to the challenges posed by each individual tree, whether that involves shaping, pruning, crown thinning, crown raising or crown reduction. This may extend to felling the whole tree if it is dangerous, diseased or no longer required. The opinion of a qualified tree surgeon will also be required if trees overhang a public right of way and may pose a threat to the public.

If trees have a Tree Preservation Order or are within a Conservation Area, planning permission will be required for tree surgery or felling. Our staff are able to apply for the necessary approvals for both surgery and felling once we have established the extent of the surgery required.

Where trees require tree surgery because they interfere with electricity cables we are able to organise power shutdowns and for tree surgery in confined situations our teams are qualified to enable legal and safe efficient traffic control, road closures and traffic lights where needed.

We are pleased to offer a stump removal service using our stump grinder, leaving a level piece of ground following a tree removal.
