Terraced Cotswold Garden

This recently completed Cotswold garden is unrecognisable from before, its simple design fixing the eye within the space whilst referencing back sympathetically to the original cottage.  On a steeply sloping site, the key client request at the start of the process was that there be needed to be somewhere level so they could actually use and enjoy their surprisingly large garden.  With restricted access and  working around the building of a new annexe and car-port, the garden is now a series of terraces, wrapped by planting and resin-bound paths which have the look of gravel without the maintenance.  An HSP summerhouse forms the central focal point – and summer G&T destination! – with a natural pond, raised formal water feature and integrated irrigation system fed off a spring that previously coursed through the plot at the base of a wall.  Subtle lighting brings the garden to life in the evening, whilst the planting contains all the classics of an English country garden
