Trees that appear or have become too large or dominating for their surroundings don’t always need to be removed – tree surgery can help to rein them in and make them an asset rather than an obstruction. The three key methods used are crown reduction, crown lifting and crown thinning.
Simply put, crown reduction draws back the overall spread of the tree, crown thinning opens up the canopy reducing levels of shade, and crown lifting raises the canopy position, revealing more of the main stem. The work does not just need to be for aesthetic purposes – it can also be required to keep a tree in a healthy and stable condition.
These are viable options individually or in combination, and need to be considered in light of the tree species itself, its position and your requirements.
With Nicholsons the process will begin with an on-site consultation, during which our arboriculturalist will examine any trees that need work and advise on their appropriate management with proper consideration of your requirements.
We will always check for any site protections including Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) and Conservation Areas, and will apply for permissions and consents on your behalf where needed.
Managing your trees does not need to be a worry. At Nicholsons, we offer a full professional tree surgery and forestry service, with experienced, NPTC trained and qualified teams to undertake any required work.
